Should you be learning Drupal?
Made these points.
- Drupal is a CMS based framework, you can use it to make websites.
- What is your end goal? Do you want to become a web developer, are you looking for a job or you are just intersted in learning something new.
- Majority of you are students or job seekers.
- My answer is absolutely yes. It is a great skill to acquire.
- You don't even have to write a single piece of code to learn Drupal site building.
- Drupal site building is not difficult to learn at all. It requires some effort in the beginning though.
- Working on Drupal will teach you lot of things about how content can be organised and managed on a website.
- Plenty of applications - use Drupal as a proper website but it can also run headless.
- You can do frelancing, work in a company or just make your own website.
- You can do continuous learning with Drupal. Begin with site building and later move on to development if you want to do more.
- Now a days you can't rely on just one skill. You can start your Drupal jounrey so easily that if you are already in web development then I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be learning it.
- If you are a web developer you will encounter questions like can Drupal do this? Drupal vs Django or Wordpress. You can only answer when you know about capabilities of Drupal.
- Let me give you one example. I don't use Wordpress, I just made 1 or 2 sites using it but I know enough Wordpress to recommend it to someone over Drupal or vice versa.
